Hello!


Welcome to Balance BodyFIT. I'm Gillian and I'm looking forward to helping you embrace your balance with pilates and fitness. 

 

I qualified as an aerobics instructor back in the day, when it was all leg warmers and sweat bands. From then I went on to teach circuit training,  Legs, Bums & Tums, Body conditioning and Body Pump.

It was later that I qualified as a Level 3 Mat Pilates teacher. With my knowledge and experience I am passionate about helping ladies get fit, healthy and strong, to feel confident and good about themselves, physically and mentally.​

I've been attending Gill's Pilates classes since she started them. The classes are brilliant. Every session is different. They are challenging but she also offers different options so everyone can work at their own level.  I'm over 50 and know how important it is to do weight bearing exercises and work on my balance and the classes are perfect for that.  I can really see how my strength and balance has improved over the last few years.  The classes are also fun too, though Gill sometimes seems to forget how many reps we are up to!!!​

I've been taking Gill's Pilates classes on-line since the start of lockdown in 2020 and have improved my core strength and flexibility. Gill is attentive to individual needs and always offers modifications, making the class accessible for everyone. Varying the exercises and introducing aides like resistance bands, balls and sliders keep the classes interesting.  Gill is a great instructor, and I would recommend her classes to anyone looking to improve their strength, flexibility, and overall well-being.

I absolutely love Gill’s classes — and believe me, I don't say that often when it comes to exercise! Working on my strength and balance has become so important to me, and Gill makes it easy to follow and adapts everything to your own ability. Her classes are so varied that the hour flies by. I have been doing Pilates with Gill for 3 years and in that time my body has become stronger, my posture has improved and my balance is so much better which, after having a bad fall and broken bones, is key to maintaining my mobility. Gills classes are often challenging but there is always an alternative and Gill herself is friendly and supportive. I would definitely recommend giving Gill's class a try whatever your ability level.

Keeping fit and healthy is important to me and I wanted to find a class which complements the walking I do. I joined Gill’s class at Reece Strawbridge Centre in Colyton as I wanted to improve my core strength and flexibility. Gill was so welcoming and explained the ethos of the class really well. My friend and I have been coming along to the Monday 12-1 sessions and now also the Thursday 12-1 sessions. There is a friendly bunch of ladies all with varying capabilities, who Gill offers different levels of participation. Each move is clearly explained which enables everyone to get involved. There is plenty of parking at the well facilitated centre, and I have new friends in this fun environment.

Having Gill's help has been really valuable to me. In May 23 I sustained a stroke which left me with a right sided hemiparesis. Gill adapted our 1:1 sessions to help me rehab the right side of my body at my core, trunk, upper & lower limb as well as my stability and balance. Her encouragement & range of exercises she created helped me so much! Then in November 24 I fractured my right wrist. Determined I would continue with my Pilates, Gill again worked her magic & adapted my 1:1 sessions to work whilst wearing the cast. Gill is an amazing instructor who wants to help you achieve & get the most out of your sessions. I cannot thank her enough for all the help she has given me.
